Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra (SSK) has decided to establish a museum namely “Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Museum” at its Campus to preserve and showcase the various objects associated with the life of the living legend from the State of Assam, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. The Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Museum will be a treasure trove of the life and works of Dr. Hazarika that will keep his contributions and accomplishments fresh among the future generations. The museum will also be a mark of honour to this multifaceted genius that has made the State proud with his enormous contributions. SSK has already received 3073 numbers of objects for the museum and the same are being treated for conservation. Presently the museum will be established in an existing building at SSK Campus and the display arrangements are in full swing to inaugurate it in January 2010. Once completed, the museum will host the objects like awards, citations, mementos, personal belongings, garments, furniture, musical instruments, gramophone records, photo albums, books and others associated to the life of the doyen.
